Colchester is a wonderful town with a rich history. It may be why the Roman’s made it their capital when they invaded nearly 2000 years ago!
An important part of this history is the River Colne, winding along the north side of the town.
Over the centuries it has witnessed ALL of these changes. Watched as Colchester has grown from a small settlement to one of the fastest growing towns with a population soon to reach 200,000.
This brings us to the reason for this website. Over the recent years the River Colne has been neglected and the rate of decline is accelerating.
So what should be a point of beauty for the town; an asset what all Colchestarians should be proud, is a suffering eyesore.
There is so much potential if the River Colne had the love and care that it deserves both for wildlife and people alike – all it needs is for everyone to take a moment to show they care and give their support to encourage those who are responsible to take the action they should.
